Netbook Bliss

For most of my life I have been searching for meaning. I have experimented with both religion and drugs, seeking some state of mind that does not include the sense of deep existential angst with which I have always felt burdened.

If the last few days are anything to go by though, all I really wanted was a laptop with a wireless Internet connection. Last Saturday, on pure impulse, I purchased my first notebook, an Acer Aspire One:

Now I won’t forget any good ideas as I’ll be able to post them whenever they occur to me, wherever I am!

It’s so great sitting in bed at night, smoking a joint and surfing the net. The Aspire One is small and light and sits comfortably on my lap. Know I haven’t blogged for a while, but I have been been reading and posting on richarddawkings.net:

  1. That looks pretty cool. I got an OLPC on the Give 1 Get 1 plane. It is a rather nice device but the keyboard sucks since it is for little kids. The OLPC is a bit heavy for a book reader but I bet I would not have minded as a kid since I would have had time to sit and read rather than doing it on the train to work.

Most people really don’t need as much processing power power as is available these days.

    I use one of these:
    PMA400

    psik

  2. Here is a slightly different perspective on performance.
